Bristol Royal Mail strike means post Christmas cards now

Bristol Royal Mail strike means post Christmas cards now: Put your Christmas cards in the post now - that is the message from the postal workers' union as the mountain of undelivered mail in Bristol grows ever bigger. The Communication Workers' Union has warned that Christmas cards may not arrive on time unless they are posted within the next three weeks. The Bristol Evening Post has reported that the backlog of post in depots and sorting centres across the Bristol area had reached 1.5 million. It is set to rise as more strikes hit the city in the coming weeks. Royal Mail has opened a temporary warehouse at the Severn Beach Distribution Centre to store the extra undelivered post. Bristol and District CWU branch spokesman Dave Wilshire said: "With all the undelivered mail it would be a good idea to post your cards now so they are there in time for Christmas. "Royal Mail has opened a warehouse at Severn Beach to try to deal with some of the backlog of parcels, but their contingency arrangements will only scratch the surface of that, and it is only for show.
